The Lord blessed us with a lot of pleasant rain free days while we were in Concord. Some parts of the state considered it a drought, but it was good weather for the outside work which needed to be completed. We installed windows and put boards on the outside of the building on which to hang the vinyl siding. A crew of young men from Doug and Margie Brown’s home church made the 16 hour drive from Cleveland, Tennessee to help for a week, speeding up the siding installation. I got to help one of the men from the church, Robbie Cyr, with some of the wiring on a few evenings. The drywall work was done, along with the painting and we got to lay the tile in the bathrooms, kitchen, hallway, and foyer. Mary and I pulled out of Concord on October 10th, wishing we could have stayed longer. The folks in New Hampshire were so good to us, providing good mealsand great fellowship, helping with the work, and taking us into their homes and hearts.
On the way home we got to visit both of Mary’s sisters again, stopping one day in Ohio to visit Rhonda, then in Indiana to visit Tanya and her husband Rick Salazar. While there we were able to help Cornerstone Baptist Church by power washing and painting their steeple.
We arrived back at our home church on Friday and began helping with our “Focus on America” home missions conference. We got to stay in our house a couple of nights before giving it over to a group of 10 here for the conference. Mary and I stayed in our trailer behind the church, organized breakfast and helped out wherever else we could during the conference. It was a great time of serving others spent with our family and church family.
The Monday after the conference we were off again, this time to Victory Baptist Church in Osawatomie, Kansas to put siding on their building. David and Sharyn Finley had planned out the job and ordered materials. Doug and Margie Brown were there helping as was Pastor Lewallenand some of the men from Victory Baptist Church. While working Mary and I got to stayevenings at her parents, one hour away, so we could spend time with them. The bulk of the job was completed in just over a week with brother Finley staying to finishing up the fascia.
Please pray that we will be able to help with upcoming projects for new churches in Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, Texas, and Colorado, and also help some established churches across the country as we travel.
