Oh That Men Would Praise Him

Oh That Men Would Praise Him

Dear Supporters of NTCP,

Psalms 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

What a wonderful verse and truth for us to apply to each of our lives.
Where do I begin? How lives have changed so much since my last letter.
May 20th, 2013 will now be a date forever in our family’s heart. Our son called his Dad and said, there is a tornado on the ground headed for our home in Moore, OK. My husband called me to see if I had the TV on. Of course not, turn it on and watch. Then wait for a call. Finally get the call after watching, weeping and pleading with the Lord for our son, James’ family. My daughter in law finally was able to get a text to my son. “We are OK, everything gone!”

Many emotions go through your mind but the greatest was, “Thank you Lord for sparing their lives. Their home was in front of the Plaza Towers School where 7 children died. You may have seen my son and his wife on Fox news several times or heard their voices. They were praising the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! If you want more details give me a call. Room will not allow me to tell you all He has done for them.

Since my last writing I’m also a year older (July 4th) and one body part less. June 3rd I had my gallbladder removed because of a severe attack on May 19th. (That is why I was at home recovering in my husband recliner when we received the call.) Everyone said it was going to be a piece of cake!! I’m still waiting for the cake. I missed Jr camp (June 10 – 13). James brought his children here for our camp just to give them a break from all the tornado stuff. My oldest granddaughter, Saylah, James daughter got saved the last night of Jr camp without me being there.

Finally at my 2 week check up, (June 18th) I told the doctor of my severe pain in the middle of the main incision where they removed my body part. He looked, felt, and then informs me that I had a blood clot in the middle of the muscle they had cut through to get to the gallbladder. I knew it felt like a mule had kicked me or someone had sucker punched me. It hurt to sit down, get up, cough, breath, etc. That’s the muscle you use with the big blood clot in it (oversized bruise).

Just continue to take it easy and take something for the pain – which I had pretty much refused up to this time. Motrin, 3 pills, 4 times a day, for the next several days. This would help with the pain and all the inflammation.

I did get to go to CO for Sr Camp at Silver State Baptist Camp. Made it pretty good except for a couple of days. The worst was Thurs evening when I was suppose to give the devotion for the girls in the dorm. I was hurting so bad that I had to go to my room and lay down. Lori Petrick gave the devotion and was able to lead a young teenage girl to the Lord that night. The next morning she was telling me all about it when that young lady came with her friend and said her friend wanted to be saved also. All this without me too.

My conclusion to the whole matter; It is wonderful to see the Lord work with or without me in the lives of family, church family, and friends. Don’t ever think you are the only one that can do “it” (whatever “it” is). He works in wondrous ways to accomplish His will.
It’s wonderful looking back and seeing how God has worked in my kids lives in OK. They are going to be fine and have seen the Lord work in amazing ways since May 20. With them and those they have come in contact with as a result of this seemingly tragic event.

I am doing much better these days but still taking it one day at a time. The ministry is a wonderful life and I’m so glad I get to be a part of His eternal plan.

I close with a quote I saw the other day: “When something bad happens you have 3 choices: You can let it define you, let it destroy you, or let it strengthen you.” I pray I will always be strengthened through the trials of life and find them “precious” as it speaks of them in I Peter. 1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
